about

A large proportion of our tunes were imported from Scotland, and, as the name suggests, Lord Gordon is no exception. It was originally a two-part reel. It is an accepted fact that Michael Colman put the other parts to it. His recording of it for Decca Records in November 1934 is a gem. A two-part version was also recorded by Peter J. Conlan who was an outstanding melodeon player.

The Boys of the Lough, as it is now called, was titled The Boys at the Lough on another recording of Coleman in April 1922.
Damien Connolly, melodeon.

Recorded Feb. 1999.
