about

This recording comes from a concert given at Le Carrefour Mondial de l’Accordéon in Montmagny, Quebec, 1995.

The first is called after a beautiful, scenic area of South Tipperary and was popularized by the playing of Paddy O’Brien back in the 1950s.
The Shaskeen Hornpipe I learned from the playing of the accordion player who influenced me the most, Joe Burke, from Loughrea. Joe is a household name wherever Irish music is mentioned. Michael Coleman recorded a reel called The Shaskeen for Decca in 1936.

Recorded Sept. 1995
